Entry Fee = $25 for up to two works.

 

Up to $500 in Jurors awards


 

Terms and Conditions:

 

All submissions to Birds in Stitches must incorporate some fiber medium or technique (quilting, cross stitch, embroidery, weaving, rope, twine, thread, etc.) AND must have some bird imagery or theme.  The design must be original, although incorporating patterns as PART of your design is acceptable.

 

Only two dimensional or low relief, wall hung works will be considered. Works may not exceed 30 in any one direction or 50 lbs. in weight. Artists must be 18 years of age or older. All accepted work must be delivered to the curator no later than September 23, 2011, and must be ready for hanging.

 

Shipping, Insurance & Liability

 

All shipping costs are the responsibility of the artist. The artist must also pay for insurance costs while in transit. However, all work will be insured against damage or theft by Eva M. Capobianco from the time it is received in good condition until it is returned to the artist.

 

 

Note: On-line entries must be received no later than 5:00 pm, Friday, August 19th , 2011

Mailed entries must be postmarked by 5:00 pm on that same day.


 

 

.Entry Procedure:

 

  1. Complete the on-line entry form (http://www.evasculpture.com/birdsinstitches/?page_id=29)

or submit entry form below along with supporting materials as follows:

 

    • CD with JPG images formatted to view on both PC and Mac.
    • JPGs should be 300 DPI and no larger than 2 MB.
    • Title JPG with your Last Name, First Initial, and entry number.jpg (example: SmithE1.jpg)
    • Include a printed list with the following info for each entry:

a.       Artists name

b.      Title of work

c.       Date of completion

d.      Dimensions (HxWxD) (H & W not to exceed 30; D, where applicable, not to exceed 6)

e.       Media

f.       Price (or insurance value if NFS)

Cash prizes will be awarded by an independent fiber artist, to be announced after the exhibit opens.

 

*Note: the curator will collect a 30% commission on all work sold from this exhibit.

20% of the profits from the exhibit will be donated to the Lab of Ornithology.

Independent curator Eva M. Capobianco is a locally well-known sculptor in the Ithaca area. She has organized numerous juried shows for State of the Art Gallery in Ithaca and for 171 Cedar Arts Center in Corning New York. She also has many years of experience doing exhibit installation for these galleries as well as for the Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art, Staten Island, NY. Many of her current wall hung sculptures incorporate cross stitched bird images.
